Chase BalisyOn playing a full 60 minutes:
“I think we definitely did. We played a full 60 minutes.”
On changing things after the 1st period:
“We didn't change anything, we just came out with more energy and tried to get the crowd involved.”
On weaknesses in Northern Michigan's defense:
“We were just trying to get pucks on net. They have a big goalie and we were just trying to get rebounds.”
On shooting:
“Honestly, it can't get much better than 50 shots, especially in this league we play in."
Thoughts on the game:
“When
we play our game and don't turn pucks over, they aren't going to get
much offense on our team. Our forcheck was on. We kept them in their
zone pretty much the whole game.”
Shane BerschbachOn playing a full 60 minutes:
“Yeah,
I think we did. We had a couple of big penalty kills that helped us out
as well. We've had trouble with getting down and back up, but
tonight we did well.”
On NMU:
“We just try to figure out teams in what they do in the first 20 minutes. Stuff after that opens up more.”
Thoughts on the 2nd period:
“We
were down one after the first, and we wanted to come back with the
lead, and that's what they did. You could tell NMU just wasn't in it, so
we were pressuring them that much more.”
On scoring a goal:
“It always feels good when you get a goal. You have more energy and are more confident, so, it helps.”
Ian SlaterOn playing a full 60 minutes:
“Yeah,
we came out and played a complete game. We got away from it a little at
times, but the good thing about this team is we battle adversity
whether we're up in the first or taking penalties in the third. We stick
together and drive through it.”
On Northern Michigan's defense:
“We know we have to come out with speed and pressure to make their defense turn. We have to read them and keep it simple.”
On trash talking:
“It was a very heated game. We're pretty close in the standings so, it was a pretty emotional game.”
On having the longest unbeaten streak in the country:
“Those
are nice accolades, but we keep it one game at a time. We know what we
have in front of us and we don't want to dwell on it too much because we
know what we want to accomplish.”
Coach
Jeff BlashillOn playing a full 60 minutes:
“I
thought for large stretches we were pretty good. I thought our energy
level was fairly even, but our sell out crowd helped us win puck races
and the energy from the building allowed us to be in their zone for a
long time. I thought that was a big difference in the game. The home ice
advantage in Lawson is a huge.”
On Northern Michigan's defense:
“I
think sometimes it gets back to the energy level. We want to attack
other teams. Maybe as the game went on they were giving up more ice, and
we had more energy. I thought our guys just really fed off the home
crowd, and that's what makes this a great environment.”
On playing
Chase Balisy's line more than usual:
“No,
pretty much the same. They've had a lot of ice time all year, and
they've deserved it. I don't really watch that as compared to how
they're playing. He's consistently good, and when you play with the
talent that he's got you're going to get a lot of points.”
On Northern Michigan's shots on goal:
“We
had a lot less turnovers. I think our guys know that when we're real
good, we don't turn the puck over, and when we aren't real good, we turn
the puck over. Our guys are realizing that. I thought that our defense
played really well.”
