Max CampbellOn the level of emotion:
“I
think it was the same. Playing these guys, there right there with us in
the standings. We come to every game expecting to win."
On taking away positive aspects:
“We
got pucks to the net. I think we had over 30 shots again. We've always
had a strong game for 50-55 minutes, but we had a couple defensive
lapses. Jerry unfortunately made a mistake and he doesn't make many.
There's not much you can do there.”
On the loss being personal:
“I
guess you could say that. It hurts definitely. You could see it at the
end of the game, we didn't even shake hands with them. When we're out
there battling so hard, we get frustrated.”
On Ohio State's momentum in the third:
“We've
been trying to work on playing the whole 60 minutes. There were parts
of that third period that we're going to have to build on as a team.”
On playing the entire 60 minutes:
“No, that 5-10 minutes in the third where it looked like they were working us, it was true. It's unacceptable for us.”
Jerry KuhnOn the shootout goals:
“I
was disappointed I let it in. It was a bad goal on my part. I didn't
watch the puck all the way, and I didn't bring my stick over with it. It
was just mental error on my part.”
On the atmosphere:
“It was a little more emotion, but also a lot more energy. You want to complete the weekend sweep for a crowd like this.”
On clearing the puck at the end of the first period:
“It was my fault. Bad decision by me, it cost us the goal. Pretty much cost us three points.”
On feeling secure as the starting goalie:
“That's
all part of goaltending. I'm getting my confidence by the way my team
plays in front of me. I work hard in practice, and when anyone works
hard in practice, things go your way, even little bounces and stuff like
that.”
Coach
Jeff BlashillOn emotion carrying over from
yesterday:
“It
was a great crowd, it certainly energizes our guys. I've said it
before, it's one of the best places in the country; it's certainly as
good as any. Unfortunately we couldn't get past that 1-0 mark and they
scored the late one.”
On playing the full 60 minutes:
“There
were ups and downs. There were times I think we could have done better.
Ohio State is a pretty good hockey team. They certainly have some say
when it comes to that. We need to continue to execute and finish the job
to become a really good hockey team.”
On the difference between yesterdays game and
tonight's:
“Part of it was that we weren't able to get the two goal lead. Then it's just a harder ladder to climb for them.
Last night,
they had chances where they could have scored as well, but Jerry kept
them out. I thought Jerry had a very good weekend overall.”
On getting to the next level:
“I
think our intensity has been good. This is a hard league for sure, and
becoming a really good hockey team is a hard thing. The steps to
becoming good are easier than the steps to becoming really good. It's
not a lack of effort or intensity. Execution can always get better. We
need to pay attention to detail on every single play, because that can
have an effect on outcome.”
On this series having a 'playoff atmosphere':
The
good thing for us is that we've been in close games all year. Our guys
have learned how critical every play is, and that you can't afford
mental mistakes or bad turnovers. This will only continue to heighten as
we lean toward the rest of our games. I try not to make one game a
bigger deal than another because they're certainly all important.”
