WESTERN MICHIGAN vs. CENTRAL MICHIGAN MAC TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINAL NOTES

  • WMU advances to the MAC Tournament semifinals for the 10th time in school history and first time since 2008. WMU is 2-7 all-time in the semis.
  • WMU is the first No. 7 seed to defeat a No. 2 seed since Toledo beat Northern Illinois in the 2006 MAC Tournament
  • WMU improves to 2-3 as a No. 7 seed with both wins in this tournament.
  • This is the first time WMU and CMU have ever played in the MAC Tournament
  • David Kool's 26 points moves him into 8th in MAC history with 2,083 points. Gary Trent (Ohio 1992-95) is 7th with 2,108.
  • Kool set a new WMU school record with 675 points in a season, breaking Manny Newsome's record that stood since 1963-64.
  • Donald Lawson blocked three shots to move his career total to 102. He is only the fourth WMU player to reach 100 career blocks.
  • Lawson moved into fifth place for single season blocks with 45.
  • Mike Douglas moved into 7th place for single season assists with 144 after posting 5 vs. CMU
  • Flenard Whitfield tied his career high with 12 rebounds and had his fourth career double-double, third this season, with 12 points
  • David Brown scored 11 points, the second-highest total of his career and most against a Division I opponent
