Mike LevenduskyOn his goal:
“It was a quick play. Warda won the face off and I got a good clean pass and was able to get it to the net.”
On scoring the game winner:
“It's important. But as a whole, the team has just been playing hard. I think the team came to play
today. It was a team victory
today.”
On sweeping Union this weekend:
“It's
huge, especially against a ranked opponent. We need to get on a big
roll the second half of this year. It's just huge for us.”
Thoughts on the upcoming bteak:
“Just
preparing; going home, preparing there. We aren't going to take any
days off. We're going to go home, work out, skate, and get ready to go
to Alaska.”
Head Coach
Jeff BlashillThoughts on the game:
“I
thought in the first period, they came out and played very well. I
think we had some lucky bounces, and Jerry may not have even seen how
close some of them were. I thought the goal by Campbell was important,
and at the time I don't know that we necessarily deserved it. But after
that, we played very good hockey. If we can keep playing like we did in
the second and third period we're going to be a good hockey team. We
made very good decisions with the puck, and I'm very happy with the
effort. These guys weren't thinking about break, they were thinking
about winning a hockey game.”
On scoring two goals in under three minutes:
“I
think the momentum was kind of sliding our way at that time anyway. I
thought we were starting to create some offense, and to get those two
goals was huge. We had a chance to make it 4-0 or 4-1, so we still need
to learn how to do that. Even at 3-1 we didn't panic. We had to get
through a few penalties and we did a good job at that.”
On giving up only one penalty goal this weekend:
“I
thought we were pretty good. We're getting better in terms of
execution. It was something I thought would be a strength of ours,
although it hasn't been all the time. There were a few plays that cost
us in terms of our percentage. But I thought we did a real good job over
all, and I thought Jerry played really well.”
Thoughts on the break:
“First
they need to spend time with their families, and that's something I'm
going to do for certain so I hope they do as well, and recharge their
batteries. Everyday they need to be committed to this program and come
back in tip top shape. After that, we've only got five days to prepare
for Alaska.”
On the momentum from this weekend carrying through to Alaska:
“I
think the breaks probably too long. It's ok. We want to be good
regardless of the momentum. I think our guys are learning how to play at
that level, and like I said before, we're going to have to take a
number of steps forward and I think we took a few of them this weekend.”
Ben WardaThoughts on the game:
“It was great work by my line mates. I thought we had some chemistry out there
tonight.”
Union's physical play:
“They're definitely a physical team, they're very fast, and quick, and I thought we did a good job of using each other
tonight.”
Thoughts on penalty kills:
“It
worked good. We tried to pressure them as much as possible. We tried to
block as many shots as possible. Kuhn played awesome also, so that's a
reason why we were killing those penalties too.”
On the upcoming break:
“Probably stay in the weight room, get on the ice as much as possible probably every other day, and try and stay in shape.”
