Men's Basketball Begins MAC Tournament on Thursday

KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan men's basketball team heads to Cleveland this week for the 2008 FirstEnergy Mid-American Conference Tournament at Quicken Loans Arena.

For the first time since 2005 and the third time in the last five years the Broncos (19-11, 12-4 MAC) won the MAC West and earned a top-two seed and first round bye for the MAC Tournament.

This year, WMU is the No. 2 seed and will open play in the quarterfinals on Thursday at noon against No. 7 Eastern Michigan or No. 10 Ball State. The game will be televised on FSN Ohio and broadcast on the Bronco Radio Network.

A 2008 MAC Tournament pass is only $19.95 or individual games can be purchased for $7.95 as part of All-MACcess at MAC-Sports.com for non-Bronco Insider subscribers.

Western Michigan is hosting a pregame reception before the Broncos play on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. on Level Two of Quicken Loans Arena in the Full Court Banquet Room. Cost is $10 and no reservation is required.
