AKRON, Ohio -- After the second day of the Mid-American Women's Golf Championships the Western Michigan golf team is sitting in seventh place.
Freshman Danielle Dainy had the Broncos best score of the second round of the MAC Championships, carding a 76 (+6) to improve her individual standing by seven spots. But WMU fell overall in the standings on the second day of postseason play, going from fourth to seventh with a Round 2 score of 310 (+30). In the overall individual standings, senior
Megha Vallabhaneni continues to lead the Brown and Gold at 146 (+6) for 15th.
Sophomore
Lauren Lupinek and senior
Jenna Hayes are both tied for 27th overall with scores of 150 (+10). Lupienk had a second round of 78 (+8) while Hayes carded a 79 (+9) over 18 holes. Junior
Macy Beeson rounded out the Western Michigan golfers with a round score of 81 (+11), improving by a stroke from her first round on Sunday.
Hosts Kent State currently lead the overall team standings at 556 (-4) after identical rounds of 278 (-2) on Sunday and Monday. Individually, Golden Flash Veronika Kedronová sits in first with a score of 136 (-4) but is closely followed by Eastern Michigan's Savannah de Bock at 138 (-2).
For the final round of the MAC Championships the Broncos are paired with the Northern Illinois Huskies on Tuesday. Beeson tees off first for WMU at 10:15 a.m. from hole 10. While Vallabhaneni will be the last member of the Brown and Gold to tee off from hole 10 at 10:51 a.m.Â
