Western Michigan Inks Grand Rapids Native Ramere Draper

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan head men's basketball coach Kahil Fennell has announced the signing of Grand Rapids native Ramere Draper, a transfer guard from Claflin University.
 
Draper arrives in Kalamazoo after spending one season at Claflin, where he started 25 of the 26 games he played in during the 2025-26 campaign. He shot 48.7 percent from the field, 42.6 percent from three-point range and netted double-digit points 18 times on the way to 12.3 points per contest. He also posted 4.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.0 steal per game while helping the Panthers to a 15-11 record.
 
Prior to Claflin, Draper played at nearby Kalamazoo Valley Community College from 2022-25. In 2024-25, he averaged 19.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game to help the Cougars to a 31-4 overall record, perfect 14-0 mark in conference play and a spot in the NJCAA Division II Final Four. The 6-4 guard was a two-time All-American at KVCC, as well as a two-time All-Defensive Team selection.
 
Draper played at Wyoming High School, helping the Wolves to a district championship his senior season. He accrued numerous accolades at Wyoming, including All-State, All-Conference and Athlete of the Year honors.
