Gymnastics Heads to NIU for Friday Meet

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan gymnastics team continues conference competition at Northern Illinois on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. 

The meet can be watched live on ESPN+, with live scoring available via Virtius.

LAST WEEK
The Broncos (6-4, 1-1 MAC) earned three wins, including their first conference victory of the season, at their quad meet against Greenville, UW-Eau Claire and Bowling Green. 

Western Michigan posted a season-high score of 195.500 and also had season-bests in three events. 

TOP MARKS
In WMU's quad meet, the team posted season-bests in total score (195.500), on vault (48.900), bars (48.875) and beam (49.000).

A handful of Bronco gymnasts also turned in season and career-best performances. Freshman Isabella Ciolfi and sophomore Kennedy Cooper both had career-highs on vault, scoring a 9.800 to tie for first place. Junior Julie Korfhage posted a career-high score of 9.825 on floor to win the event, while Reese Samuelson matched her career-best with a 9.875 to win on beam. 

ON THE ROAD, AGAIN
The Broncos are back in action next Friday at Iowa State University for a meet at 8 p.m. WMU then returns to University Arena on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. to host Ball State for its annual Alumni Meet.
