YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Western Michigan gymnasts claimed three of the four events as the Broncos picked up wins over Eastern Michigan, Illinois State and Wilberforce on Friday night at EMU.
WMU finished with a score of 195.275 and edged out the Eagles and their score of 195.200. ISU finished with a 194.675, while Wilberforce had to forfeit due to illness on the team.
The Broncos started off on bars, with
Reese Samuelson and
Kate Parks tying for first place after scores of 9.850.
Reilan Garvey had a 9.800, while
Makenna King and
Julie Korfhage finished with 9.775s for a team score of 49.050.
WMU moved to beam next, with Korfhage posting the team's top score of 9.800 to take fifth place.
Eastern Michigan took the meet lead after the second rotation, but the Broncos reclaimed it in the third on floor. Korfhage posted a new career-high of 9.875 to take first place. Sophomore transfer
Aliyah Kelly had a new personal-best score of 9.850 and tied for second place.
Hannah Milton scored a 9.750, while
Molly Sabin contributed with a 9.75.
Western Michigan finished strong on vault to earn the match win. Gelesko and Bella Ciolfi tied for first place with 9.825s, with Ciolfi's being career-best mark.
Kennedy Cooper finished in second with a 9.800, while Milton tied for third with a 9.775.
Western Michigan returns home on Friday to host Illinois State at 5 p.m. on Friday and then Kent State on Sunday for Senior Day, beginning at 12 p.m.
