KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Following a pair of wins over Creighton and Michigan, the Western Michigan women's soccer team was able to sweep the Mid-American Conference weekly awards, the league announced this afternoon.
Drew Martin earned the league's Offensive Player of the Week award after notching goals in both matches this past week. The senior midfielder delivered the knockout blow to the Bluejays on Thursday, netting her first goal of the season to make it 2-0 late in the second half. She had three shots in the game. She followed that up with the game-winning goal on Sunday to knock off Michigan. She played 76 minutes in the match and had two shots on net.
Mira Pierre-Webster was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week. The Whitby, Ontario native played every minute in both games, holding two strong offenses to just one goal in 180 minutes of action. Pierre-Webster and the Bronco defense allowed just seven shots on goal this past week.
Finally,
Reagan Sulaver collected Goalkeeper of the Week honors. She made two saves and picked up her first career win and shutout on Thursday against the Bluejays. She followed that up with a four-save performance to help WMU Fly the Flag against Michigan. On the week, Sulaver had a 0.50 goals against average and a .857 save percentage.
Martin, Pierre-Webster and Sulaver will be back in action on Sunday against Detroit Mercy. The game will begin at 1 PM at the WMU Soccer Complex.
