MADISON, Wis. – Western Michigan senior
Megha Vallabhaneni jumped up over 20 spots individually with a big Round 3 at the Badger Invitational on Tuesday.
After ending Monday at 45th in the individual rankings, Vallabhaneni finished the tournament at 24th, carding a 70 to end round three two under par. Ending the tournament at six above par on Tuesday, Vallabhaneni led the team with an overall score of 222 for the tournament.
Overall, WMU finished 13th of 14 as a team with a final score of 923 after shooting 319-315-299 over three rounds. The Badger Invitational team winner was Illinois, ending the day at 16 under par with a score of 848 with rounds of 286-277-285. The overall individual winner was Alexis Meyers of Illinois with a final score of 207 to end the tournament nine under par.
Junior
Bella Brooks also had a strong final round in Wisconsin on Tuesday, carding a 73 to be one over par. Brooks finished 61st overall, moving up nine spots with a final score of 233 after rounds of 81-79-73. Freshman Danielle Dainy shot just over her career-low on Tuesday with a round three score of 76, ending the tournament in 63rd with rounds of 80-78-76.
Sophomore
Lauren Lupinek ended the Badger Invitational with a round of 80, matching her score from round two. Lupinek had a final score of 237 as she carded rounds of 77-80-80. Rounding out the tournament for Western Michigan was senior
Jenna Hayes with a round three score of 83. Hayes shot 78-84-83 over the three rounds for a final score of 245.
Bronco women's golf returns to action at the end of the month at the Diane Thomason Invitational hosted by Iowa. The tournament will begin on Monday, Sept. 29, and end on Tuesday, Sept. 30, after three rounds of play.
