KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan University women's basketball team has announced its 2025 non-conference schedule.
The Broncos will play 10 games before seeing Mid-American Conference action in 2025. The Brown and Gold have four home games at University Arena spread out across 40 days to begin the 2025-26 season. Of the 10 teams WMU will see in non-conference action, half appeared in postseason play outside of their conference tournament including three that made the NCAA Tournament. Western Michigan will also be playing four programs they have never matched up against in program history.
The 2025-26 season begins on the road for the Broncos at Appalachian State as part of the MAC-Sunbelt Challenge on Monday, Nov. 3. It will be the first meeting between the two programs to open the year. WMU then holds its home opener at University Arena on Sunday, Nov. 9 against the Duquesne Dukes, who appeared in the WNIT Tournament in 2024-25. The Dukes are another new program to Western Michigan in 2025.
The Broncos return to the road the next week, starting with a visit to UW-Milwaukee on Thursday, Nov. 13. WMU comes back to the Great Lakes State for a big weekend match up in Lansing. The Brown and Gold take on the Michigan State Spartans on Sunday, Nov. 16 after renewing the in-state series in 2024 in Kalamazoo. Western Michigan's last game of November will be back home against Division II Roosevelt on Tuesday the 25
th.
WMU returns to action at Indiana to start its December games on Wednesday the 3
rd. The Broncos will have another game on the road after visiting the Hoosiers, making a stop in the Windy City for their first game against the Loyola Ramblers since 2019 on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Western Michigan will have one home stand during non-conference play with two back-to-back games at University Arena. The Broncos will welcome the Valparaiso Beacons on Sunday, Dec. 14 for their return game from last season. WMU's final home game of 2025 will be against the Dayton Flyers on Thursday, Dec. 18.
The Broncos wrap up their non-conference schedule against their third Big Ten team of the season on Monday, Dec. 22. Before enjoying some time off for the Christmas holidays, the Brown and Gold will visit Ohio State for the first time in over a decade. The Buckeyes ended last season as one of the Top 25 teams in the nation, falling in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to No. 5 Tennessee.
