KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan University women's basketball team and Head Coach Kate Achter have announced the 2026-27 non-conference schedule.

The Broncos will play 11 regular season games and one exhibition game against non-conference foes starting in late October and ending in mid-December. Of WMU's 12 non-conference opponents, three participated in either the WBIT or the WNIT, and three made their conference tournament semifinal or championship games. The Brown and Gold will have an even six games at home and six games on the road, including a neutral site tournament before Thanksgiving.

Western Michigan hosts a single exhibition game for preseason action on Wednesday, October 28 against DIII Adrian. The two programs last met back in 1972, prior to the NCAA sponsoring women's basketball as a varsity sport. The Broncos then open the regular season with their only homestand of 2026, beginning with their first MAC-Sun Belt Challenge opponent, Coastal Carolina on Monday, November 2. WMU rounds out its non-conference homestand by welcoming Purdue Fort Wayne to Read Fieldhouse on Tuesday, November 10.

The Brown and Gold's first road game of the 2026-27 season won't be too far from home, playing at Dayton on Sunday, November 15. Western Michigan then returns home to host Milwaukee on Friday, November 20, before spending the rest of the month on the road. The Broncos then head back to the Buckeye State to participate in the Viking Invite hosted by Cleveland State. WMU will play the Lindenwood Lions on Tuesday, November 24, followed by facing Georgia Southern on Wednesday, November 25.

To kick off the final month of 2026, the Brown and Gold complete their three game road trip at Wisconsin on Wednesday, December 2, for the program's first meeting in 20 years. Western Michigan will play on its home court for the first time in 20 days on Thursday, December 10 against NAIA Madonna. Only three days later, the Broncos are back on the road at Duquesne in Pittsburgh on Sunday, December 13.

WMU wraps up the non-conference portion of its schedule with both a home and an away game right before the Christmas holidays. The Brown and Gold's last home game of 2026 is set for Saturday, December 19 against in-state opponent Oakland. Western Michigan will play its final game of the calendar year on the road at Purdue on Wednesday, December 22 to try to get the first Bronco win in the series.

Individual home game times will be announced at a later date.
