KEWADIN, Mich. -- The Western Michigan University golf team begins the new season just three hours north from campus.
The Broncos open the 2025 fall season on Sunday, Aug. 31 at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational hosted by Central Michigan at the A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort. The first round of 36 holes for WMU begins at 9:00 a.m. along with 10 other teams. Also competing in the Invitational on Sunday and Monday are hosts Central Michigan, fellow Mid-American Conference teams Bowling Green and Ohio, along with Oakland, Loyola-Chicago, Detroit Mercy, Bellarmine, Green Bay, Bradley, and Chicago State.
Western Michigan will have two teams competing in the first tournament of the season. The Broncos first team consists of returners
Megha Vallabhaneni,
Macy Beeson,
Lauren Lupinek, and
Jenna Hayes, along with freshman
Danielle Daniy. WMU's second team is returners
Bella Brooks,
Kailey White, and
Saanvi Venkatesh and freshman
Lea Lemieux. Both teams will begin their tournament with 9:00 a.m. tee times.
Teams will play a total of 54 holes across the two days with 36 holes on Sunday with 18 holes on Monday. The top four scores from each team will be counted in the final team scores for each round of play. The tournament will be held on the Sundance Course at A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort which is known for showing off the natural beauty of northwest Michigan with views of both Torch Lake to the east and Lake Michigan to the west. The course has wide, playable fairways, sculpted greens, vast bunkers, and heather-clad mounding for a solid test of teams. Par for the course is 72 with 6,000 yards of course.Â
