CLEVELAND -- Matchups for the third installment of the Mid-American Conference-Sun Belt Conference challenge have been announced.
The WMU women's basketball team will travel to Appalachian State in November, while the Bronco men's basketball team will host Coastal Carolina. Times, dates and broadcast information are still to be determined. The second MAC-SBC Challenge contest for each team will take place in February, with the match ups based on real-time NET rankings and announced in January. The MAC women and Sun Belt men will host the February match ups.
Last season, the women's team opened the challenge with a 61-52 win over Arkansas State in Kalamazoo. The Broncos finished things off with a 59-50 win at Texas State to go 2-0, helping the MAC win the challenge on the women's side. WMU was joined by Northern Illinois, Toledo, Miami and Bowling Green as the only teams to go 2-0.
The men's team has a rematch from last year. The Broncos opened the MAC-SBC Challenge at Coastal Carolina, falling to the Chanticleers 60-56 in Conway, S.C. WMU then hosted Georgia Southern, falling 83-57. Overall, the MAC and SBC finished deadlocked on the men's side with a 12-12 record.
