KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball program and head coach
Colleen Munson rounded out the 2025 schedule by unveiling the team's non-conference slate on Monday. Among the 13 non-conference opponents are three teams which won conference titles last season and four programs which made the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
"We're really excited about the non-conference schedule we've put together for this fall," Coach Munson said. "It will give us many opportunities to learn and grow, and will be great preparation for the always-challenging Mid-American Conference schedule."
For the third straight year, Western Michigan begins the season at home with a three-day tournament at University Arena. The Broncos are set to face Oakland to open up the 2025 campaign on Friday, Aug. 29. Also coming to Kalamazoo for the first weekend of the season are Illinois State (Aug. 30) and DePaul (Aug. 31).
The following week, the Broncos head to Bloomington, Ind., for a tournament which will see them play three matches in two days. Western Michigan opens up the tournament against Northern Kentucky on Sept. 4, and then will match up against reigning OVC Champion Southeast Missouri State and Indiana the following day.
The Brown and Gold return to University Arena on Sept. 8, when they host Michigan State. WMU swept the Spartans in East Lansing last season, giving it a road win over an in-state Big Ten program for the second straight year.
Western Michigan rounds out non-conference play with back-to-back road tournaments. First up is a trip out to Los Angeles from Sept. 11-13 to play LMU, USC and BYU, all three of which made the NCAA Tournament in 2024. The Broncos then head to Green Bay, Wis., to finish out non-conference action against Green Bay (Sept. 18), Northern Iowa (Sept. 19) and Tennessee Tech (Sept. 20).
The 2025 Mid-American Conference schedule, which was
announced back in April, begins on Sept. 25, as the Broncos welcome Eastern Michigan to University Arena.
