Aurielle Anderson Returns to WMU as Women's Basketball Assistant Coach

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's basketball team and head coach Kate Achter have announced the hiring of WMU alum Aurielle Anderson to the position of assistant coach.

Anderson joins the Broncos after spending two seasons at Duquesne in the same position. In her two seasons with the Dukes, she helped them to back-to-back 20-win seasons and two trips to the Women's National Invitational Tournament. Anderson assisted in offensive planning and development, leading to a record-breaking 2024-25 season that saw Duquesne set a new program record with 341 made three-pointers in a single season. The team also averaged a program-record 71.9 points per game.

"We are very happy to welcome Auri back to Kalamazoo," said Achter. "Her passion for growth and her pride for our campus make her an excellent fit within staff. Auri spent the last two seasons sharpening her craft in a winning program, an experience that is vital as we continue to build here."

Prior to her time with the Dukes, she spent two seasons at Long Island University as an assistant coach and had stints as a strength and conditioning coach at Kalamazoo College and Savannah State.

Anderson was a four-year letterwinner with the Broncos, playing in 117 career games, starting in 51 and averaging 6.0 points per game. Anderson had a knack for defense, sharing the team's Most Valuable Defensive Player honors as a sophomore and then won the award as a senior.  She graduated with her degree in exercise science from WMU in 2014.
