KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's basketball program and head coach Kate Achter have announced the addition of transfer guard Morasha Wiggins.
Wiggins, who is from Kalamazoo and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, comes to WMU after spending two seasons at Arizona State. She played in six games last season before suffering a season-ending injury, averaging 12.8 minutes per game and 3.0 points per game. Wiggins also missed the 2022-23 season with an injury. Prior to her time at ASU she played the 2021-22 season at North Carolina. With the Tarheels she played in 21 games, coming off the bench to average 8.4 minutes per game.
"I couldn't be more excited to announce this signing," said Achter. "In taking this job one of my biggest recruiting priorities has been to keep Michigan talent in-state. In this case, we are ready to welcome Morasha home with open arms. Mo is a homerun for us, as we continue to climb as a program. Her experience on the national level is vast, and the weight her name carries in Kalamazoo is immense."Â
"She is a key piece in assembling our roster for next season and beyond. We are so proud that Mo and her parents are now part of the Bronco family."Â
Wiggins was the 2021 Michigan Associated High School Player of the Year for Division 1. She averaged 24.3 points per game, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.5 steals and 1.3 blocks as a senior. She was a First Team All-State selection and a finalist for Michigan Miss Basketball. She was ranked 18th in the ESPNW Class of 2021 rankings and named to the Jordan Brand Classic 2021 Girls National Team. Wiggins was a member of the National Honor Society and also earned Second Team All-State honors in 2019.Â
