ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The American Hockey Coaches Association announced its annual list of All-Americans, with
Alex Bump being honored as a First Team selection.
Bump was joined on the West First Team by Jack Devine (Denver), Isaac Howard (Michigan State), Sam Rinzel (Minnesota), Zeev Buium (Denver) and Trey Augustine (Michigan State).
Bump is 19th All-American in program history and the first since Jason Polin in 2022-23. The Prior Lake, Minn. native has been exceptional throughout the season, entering the national championship game with 47 points on 23 goals and 24 assists.
The Philadelphia Flyers draft pick was honored as the NCHC's Forward of the Year earlier this season and was also named the NCHC Frozen Faceoff Tournament MVP. Bump is the first Bronco to ever win the Frozen Faceoff MVP and just the second player in program history to earn the league's Forward of the Year award.
Bump has at least one point in 28 games this season, including 15 multi-point efforts. With three more points, he would become the first Bronco since Brent Walton in 2004-05 to reach 50 points in a season.
Bump has led the Broncos to multiple program firsts this season. WMU won its first ever Penrose Cup and NCHC Frozen Faceoff Championship this season. Along with that, the Brown and Gold advanced to the Frozen Four for the first time in program history.
The Broncos defeated Denver in the NCAA Semifinals last night to advance to Saturday's National Championship game. A win would secure the program's first ever national title. Western Michigan takes on Boston University at 7:30 PM ET.
