KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's gymnastics team posted the second-highest team bars score in program history on Sunday in a tri-meet victory over Northern Illinois and Wisconsin-Whitewater at University Arena.
The Broncos posted their second-best score of the season with a 195.300 to best NIU's 194.450 and UWW's 193.400. WMU has now earned three-straight wins over MAC competition.
Individually, WMU won three of the four events on the day.
On bars, the team posted a score of 49.275, falling just shy of the program record. Freshman
Reilan Garvey and sophomore
Julie Korfhage shared the title after post career-highs of 9.875.
Reese Samuelson and
Molly Freeman both had 9.850's, while
DonnaKathryn Roy had a 9.825. Garvey also earned a win on beam with a score of 9.825.
Western Michigan's entire lineup on floor finished in the top six spots. Senior
Cassie St. Clair won the event with a 9.900, her second time posting a score of at least 9.900 this season.
Hannah Milton had a career-high score of 9.875 to take second place. Roy and
Ally Schaupp tied for third with 9.850's, while
Kennedy Cooper scored a 9.825. Garvey rounded out the top six with a 9.800.
Garvey also went on to post a career-high in the all-around with a 39.200.
St. Clair and Hallie Faulkner tied for second on vault with 9.850's, behind NIU's Kiera O'Shea's 9.900. O'Shea ranks at the top of the conference in the event.
Western Michigan is back in action on Thursday for a non-conference meet at Eastern Michigan, beginning at 6 p.m.
