KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's basketball team hosts Bowling Green on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at University Arena.

LAST WEEK
The Broncos were off during the week and hosted Northern Illinois on Saturday, falling to the Huskies 60-51.
Alli Carlson had a team-high 11 points and
Marina Asensio had 10.
Hannah Spitzley finished just shy of a double-double with eight points and seven rebounds.
BREATHING ROOM
With six games left in the regular season, Western Michigan is looking for breathing room in the Mid-American Conference standings. WMU is currently tied with Bowling Green in sixth place, with the top eight heading to Cleveland for the MAC Tournament.
Miami sits just in front of WMU and BGSU with a 7-5 record, while a two-way tie for the eighth spot is between Northern Illinois and Central Michigan at 5-7.
The Broncos head to CMU on Saturday, then host Akron and Ball State next week. The Zips are currently 3-9 and sit 10th in the standings. The Cardinals remain undefeated at 12-0 at the top of the MAC. Western Michigan the wraps up league play at 11th-place Ohio and second-place Buffalo.
FIRST OFF
One of the first players off the bench for the Broncos this season has been redshirt freshman center
Evyn Carrier. After missing the majority of her freshman year, Carrier has played in 18 games this season, starting in five.
The Sycamore, Ill., native has made an impact off the bench, averaging 5.1 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game in 14 minutes per game. Recently she's been playing some of her best basketball of the season. In the last five games she has averaged 7.2 points per game, which included a career-high of 11 against Buffalo. In those five games she has also shot 54 percent from the field (14-of-26).
LAST TIME OUT
The Broncos and the Falcons met back on Jan. 22 in Bowling Green, with WMU prevailing it a night one, 63-60. WMU was trailing 48-40 heading into the fourth quarter, but outscored BGSU 23-12 to erase the deficit and earn the win. The Broncos shot the lights out in the fourth quarter, going 7-for-9 from the field and 3-for-3 from three.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
BGSU is 4-1 in its last five games and has won its last two, a 75-73 victory at Arkansas State and a 70-55 win over Central Michigan at home. The Falcons have struggled on the road this season, going 3-9.
Bowling Green averages 69.6 points per game and allows 68.2. Senior guard Amy Velasco leads the team in scoring at 15.4 points per game, shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 40 percent from three. Sophomore guard Paige Kohler is second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game and has made the most threes on the team, with 58. Fifth-year forward Erica Porter is the top rebounder on the team at 5.6 per game and also averages 10.1 points per game.
