BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Western Michigan gymnastics team picked up its second-straight win in Mid-American Conference competition after defeating Bowling Green 195.325-192.325 at the Stroh Center on Sunday afternoon.
A Bronco was at the top of every event, starting on vault with
Sarah Moravansky and
Halle Faulkner tying for first place with a score of 9.825. Just behind them was
Hannah Milton and
Brooke Gelesko with a 9.800. The score for Gelesko was a new career-best.
Reese Samuelson took first place on bars after as core of 9.850, her second-highest mark of the season in the event.
Molly Freeman and
Julie Korfhage tied for second place with a 9.775. Samuelson was also the winner on beam with a new career-high score of 9.875. Freshman
Reilan Garvey took second place, also with a new career-high score of 9.825.
On floor there was a three-way tie for first between BGSU's Keira Thornton, WMU's
Ally Schaupp and Korfage. All three earned 9.775s. Milton and
DonnaKathryn Roy finished right behind them with 9.750s.
Garvey went on to win the all-around for the first time in her career, posting a total of 38.950.
