KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Mary Clare Brusek,
Amanda Glanton and
Leah Richmond of the Western Michigan volleyball team have all been selected to the All-MAC First Team, the conference office announced on Thursday. Additionally, Richmond was named to the league's All-Freshman Team.
Brusek earned All-MAC recognition for the second time in her career, having been named to the Second Team back in 2023. The senior has been WMU's biggest offensive threat this season, pacing the Brown and Gold in kills (355) and kills per set (3.01) while hitting .297. During MAC play, Brusek tallied double-digit kills in 17 of 18 contests and upped her kills per set average to 3.46, fourth-best in the league, while posting a .352 hitting percentage, the fifth-best mark in the conference.
Glanton played a key role in Western Michigan boasting the best defense in the conference. The senior led the MAC in both total blocks (103) and blocks per set (1.45) in league play, helping the Broncos rank atop the conference in team blocks per set (2.72) and opposing hitting percentage (.150). Glanton was also a threat on the offensive end, posting a .359 hitting percentage in conference play, the fourth-highest mark in the MAC.
Richmond's selection made it six straight seasons WMU's setter has earned a place on the All-MAC First Team. She is the first Bronco to make it onto the All-Freshman Team since
Logan Case during the Spring 2021 campaign. Richmond handed out 40 or more assists in 11 conference matches on the way to a league-leading 10.45 assists per set. The redshirt freshman notched at least 25 assists and eight digs in all 18 conference contests and recorded 15 double-doubles in MAC play. Her 3.29 digs per set in conference play ranked just outside of the league's top-10.
Western Michigan has earned the No. 2 seed for the MAC Tournament, which begins on Friday with quarterfinal action from Bowling Green, Ohio. As the two seed, the Broncos have a bye to Saturday's second semifinal, which will see them face the winner of the quarterfinal between No. 3 seed Ohio and No. 6 seed Bowling Green. WMU's semifinal is slated for a 7 pm first serve Saturday night on
