KETTERING, Ohio – Western Michigan women's golf tied for second overall as a team at the University of Dayton Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
After ending the first day of play at the University of Dayton Invitational in fifth, the Broncos had the best third and final round. WMU jumped from fifth overall to tying for second place as a team in the final day of play by shooting only eight over par in Tuesday's round three. The Brown and Gold tied with Kennesaw State for second with an overall tournament score of 901 by carding rounds of 304-305-292.
Leading Western Michigan on Tuesday was sophomore Lauren Lupnek after carding a career-low round of 69 during the third round. Lupnek ended Day 1 tied for 14
th overall with teammate Megha Vallabheni before dropping her overall score by two strokes on Tuesday. The sophomore ended the tournament fourth individually, carding rounds of 76-77-69 to place behind players from Butler and No. 20 Ohio State.
Vallabheni finished second on the Broncos team score while being tied for 12
th overall. The senior carded rounds of 77-76-73 to end the tournament with a score of 226 (+13). After leading the field in the first round of the tournament, junior
Bella Brooks wrapped up the Dayton Invitational tied for 22
nd overall with a score of 229 (+16) with rounds of 69-76-84.
WMU's last two team players finished Tuesday with the exact same final score of 234 (+21) to be tied for 35
th. Junior
Macy Beeson season shot 82-78-74 through three rounds, matching her career low on Tuesday. Freshman
Danielle Daniy finished her first fall season of collegiate golf with rounds of 82-76-76.
The Brown and Gold also had two individual players compete in the Dayton Invitational. Senior
Jenna Hayes ended the tournament tied for 40
th after shooting 235 (+22) with rounds of 78-76-81. Sophomore
Saanvi Venkatesh was the final player at the Dayton Invitational for Western Michigan, placing 55
th with a total score of 243 (+30) following rounds of 84-82-77.
With the fall season over, the Broncos will return to play for the spring season in February of 2026 in their annual Rio Verde Collegiate tournament.
