MUNCIE, Ind. -- Western Michigan senior
Halle Faulkner earned a win on vault as the Broncos fell to Ball State in their Mid-American Conference opener in Muncie on Sunday afternoon.
WMU finished with a score of 194.675 to BSU's 195.550. Western Michigan did pick up a win over Wilberforce at the tri meet after the Bulldogs scored a 173.100.
Faulkner had a season-high score of 9.8500 to claim the title. The score also ties her for the highest in the MAC so far this season. Donnakathryn Roy and
Sarah Moravansky tied for fourth with scores of 9.775. Moravansky was also the team's top finisher on beam with a 9.700.
The Broncos started off the day on bars and turned in a season-best score of 48.925, led by sophomore
Reese Samuelson. Samuelson matched her career-high of 9.825 that she set last weekend, and finished in second place. Moravansky and
Makenna King tied for third after scores of 9.800, while
Molly Freeman turned in a 9.750 and
Reilan Garvey scored a 9.700.
Senior Ally Shaupp tied for second on floor with a 9.825, with classmate
Cassie St. Clair right behind her with a 9.800. Garvey and fellow freshman
Kennedy Cooper both scored a 9.775, with Roy turning in a score of 9.750.
The Broncos are back in action next Sunday at Kent State, with the meet starting at 1 p.m.
