Hannah Spitzley Named to BCAM Academic-Athletic Honor Team

MICHIGAN — Western Michigan women's basketball graduate student Hannah Spitzley has been named to the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) Academic-Athletic Honor Team for the 2023-24 athletic year.

This past season Spitzley majoring in exercise science, averaged 8.7 points and 3.5 rebounds along with 1.3 three-pointers per game after a career year beyond the arch. In 29 appearances (21 starts), the guard from Westphalia, Michigan, recorded a personal best 39 three-pointers on a career-high 31.71% clip from distance. Her 39 treys on the year helped the then-senior jump to 20th all-time in program history in career three-pointers made.

With her selection to the BCAM Academic-Athletic honor team, Spitzley continues to bolster her resume by following up her selections to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® and Academic All-Mid-American Conference teams for the 2023-24 season.

Each BCAM Academic-Athletic Honor Team pays tribute to five outstanding scholar-athletes from Michigan colleges and universities at the NCAA I, NCAA II, NCAA III, and NAIA levels. To be eligible, players must be nominated by their BCAM member coach, be either a starter on an important reserve, have reached sophomore standing, have participated in at least 50% of the team's games, and have at least a 3.0 GPA. The BCAM teams are selected on the basis of academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, and extra-curricular activities.
