Volleyball Fills Out 2024 Schedule with Challenging Non-Conference Slate

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball program and head coach Colleen Munson rounded its 2024 schedule by unveiling its non-conference slate on Thursday. The 11 non-conference tilts are all against teams which posted winning records in 2023, with six of those squads having posted 20 or more victories and five reaching the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

"This is one of the toughest non-conference schedules we've put together in a long time," coach Munson said. "We're excited about the challenges it presents and know it will help us continue to grow and improve as we pursue another MAC Championship!"

For the second consecutive year, Western Michigan begins the season at home with a three-day tournament at University Arena. The Broncos are set to face LMU to open up the 2024 campaign on Friday, Aug. 30. Also coming to Kalamazoo for the first weekend of the season are Loyola Chicago (Aug. 31) and Clemson (Sept. 1).

The following weekend, the Broncos head up to Milwaukee to face a pair of NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago in Kansas (Sept. 7) and Marquette (Sept. 8). On Sept. 11, Western Michigan makes a mid-week trip to Michigan State.

The weekend of Sept. 13-15, WMU travels south for the Erie Insurance Invitational in Harrisonburg, Va., where it is set to take on UC San Diego (Sept. 13), High Point (Sept. 14) and James Madison (Sept. 15). Western Michigan then closes out its non-conference schedule with a trip to Knoxville, Tenn., for a pair of matches against Tennessee on Sept. 19 and 20.

The 2024 Mid-American Conference schedule, which was announced back in March, begins on Sept. 27-28, as the Broncos welcome Buffalo to University Arena for a two-match series.
