Sullivan Continues Rise in D1Baseball's First Basemen Rankings

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – After coming in at #33 on the midseason list, Western Michigan first baseman Cade Sullivan has climbed to #25 in D1Baseball's latest ranking of the Top 50 First Basemen. The WMU senior was one of six players from around the Mid-American Conference to appear on the publication's latest positional rankings and was the second-highest ranked MAC player at any position. Sullivan was the lone representative among the league's first basemen.

Sullivan heads into the final week of the regular season leading the MAC in batting average (.398) and total hits (76). The Naperville, Ill., native also ranks among the league leaders in runs scored (59, 3rd), on-base percentage (.489, 4th), OPS (1.123, 4th), RBIs (47, T-11) and doubles (13, T-12).

Already the program's all-time leader in home runs with 38, Sullivan has been moving up the career rankings in several other categories for the Broncos, including ranking second in career RBIs (158), fourth in runs scored (154) and fifth in total bases (359). He also recently surpassed 200 career hits for the Brown and Gold, a category in which he currently sits just outside of WMU's career top-10.

Western Michigan closes out the regular season with a three-game set at Central Michigan. The series is slated to begin on Thursday at 3 pm.
