KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Payton Murphy and
Cassie St. Clair from the Western Michigan gymnastics team have qualified for the 2024 NCAA Gymnastics Regional Championships in Ann Arbor.
Murphy qualified for the all-around, while St. Clair qualified on floor. The two will compete on Thursday, April 4 beginning at 1 p.m.
Murphy qualified after a strong fifth-year senior season that saw her named First Team All-MAC on floor. She also helped the Broncos win the program's first MAC Tournament Championship since 2013. Murphy finishes second overall in the all-around after posting a score of 39.250. Murphy's season-high in the all-around is 39.450. She reached the mark twice at the Next Level Podium Challenge and against Kent State.
St. Clair had a career-best season on floor. She finished with a NQS of 9.900 and an average of 9.883. St. Clair reached or surpassed her NQS six times on the season, including tying the program record of 9.975 against Kent State on March 10. St. Clair claimed her first ever MAC title last weekend, earning MAC Co-Champion after posting a 9.900.
