MUNCIE, Ind. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team is at Ball State University for the 2024 Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday at Worthen Arena, beginning at 2 p.m.

THE ROTATION
WMU opens the meet on a bye. In the second rotation, the Broncos compete on bars and then beam in the third rotation. Western Michigan has another by in the fourth rotation, before competing on floor in the fifth. WMU has its final bye in the sixth round and then closes out the meet on vault.
WHERE THINGS STAND
Western Michigan heads into the championship tied for the third-highest NQS in the MAC at 195.950, matching rival Central Michigan.
As a team, the Broncos rank third on vault with a NQS of 49.125, but have the second-best average score in the event at 49.059. WMU ranks fifth on bars with a NQS of 48.925 and an average of 48.670. Western Michigan also ranks fifth on beam with a NQS of 48.775 and an average of 48.530. WMU's highest conference ranking comes on floor at second, with a NQS of 49.420 and an average of 49.286.
Individually,
Halle Faulkner and
Cassie St. Clair are both in the top 10 on vault. Faulkner is tied for sixth at 9.855 and an average of 9.844 St. Clair is tied at 10th with a 9.845 and an average of 9.743. No Bronco ranks in the top 10 on bars, while
Payton Murphy and
Amanda Gruber are both in the top 10 on beam. Murphy is tied for seventh with a 9.830 NQS and an average of 9.770, the fifth-highest average in the conference. Gruber is tied for 10th with a 9.820 and an average of 9.775. Murphy is the top performer in the conference on floor. The First Team All-MAC selection in the vent, she has a NQS of 9.940 and an average of 9.893. St. Clair is tied for sixth with a NQS of 9.895 and an average of 9.882.
Murphy also ranks fourth in the all-around with a NQS of 39.310 and an average of 39.100.
