CLEVELAND – For the third time this season, the Western Michigan men's tennis team swept the Mid-American Conference weekly awards with
Benjamin George and
Drew Evans winning MAC Doubles Team of the Week and George earning MAC Singles Player of the Week.
George went 2-0 at No. 2 singles as the Broncos earned road wins at Buffalo and Toledo over the weekend. Against the Bulls he defeated Artem Aleksechuk 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to tie the match at 2-2. Against the Rockets he won the decisive match against Marko Galic. After dropping the first set 6-3, George battled back to win the final two sets 6-4, 6-3 to extend WMU's winning streak to 10 matches. George is now 4-0 in MAC singles play this season.
George and Evans went 2-0 over the weekend. The pair helped WMU secure the doubles points in both matchs, with a 6-3 win at No. 2 ofer UB's Artem Aleksehuck and Theodores Mitsakos. Against the Rockets they took down Hanamichi Carvahal and Poonthong Komolpisut. The duo are now 8-2 in dual matches and 3-1 in MAC play.
The Broncos are back in action this Friday at Ball State. First serve is at 1 p.m.
