MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Fifth-year senior
Payton Murphy tied the program individual floor record for the third time in her career and helped the Western Michigan gymnastics team break the team floor record as the Broncos wrapped up the regular season at Central Michigan on Friday.
Murphy scored a 9.975 for the second-straight meet to tie the record and win on floor. Junior
Ally Schaupp tied for second with a career-high 9.925, while
Dani Petrousek and
Cassie St. Clair each scored a 9.900. Donnakathryn Roy had a 9.875 to help set the new team record at 49.575.
Murphy also picked up a win on vault after posting a score of 9.875.
Sarah Moravansky and
Hannah Milton each scored a 9.800. Freshman
Makenna King was WMU's top finisher on bars with a 9.825, while Moravansky was the top finisher on bars with a 9.800.
CMU finished a team score of 196.875, besting the Broncos and their 195.800.
Western Michigan now heads to the MAC Tournament Championship Meet next Saturday at Ball State. The meet can be watched live on ESPN+.
