CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan gymnastics team swept the weekly Mid-American Conference awards after
Payton Murphy was named MAC Gymnast of the Week and
Cassie St. Clair was named MAC Specialist of the Week.
Murphy tied the program record on floor and won the all-around in WMU's final home meet of the season against Kent State on Sunday. Murphy did not get below a 9.800 in any event, topped off with a 9.975 on floor to match teammate St. Clair, tying for the win. She totaled a score of 39.450 in the all-around, matching a season high.
St. Clair tied for first on vault and floor against the Golden Flashes. On Vault she scored a 9.900, a season-high, to tie teammate
Halle Faulkner for first place. On floor she tied the program record with a 9.975, tying Murphy in first place.
The Broncos wrap up the regular season on Friday at Central Michigan. The meet begins at 6 p.m. and can be watched live on ESPN+. A win over the Chippewas would secure the Broncos a share of the MAC Regular Season Championship.
