KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan's
Payton Murphy and
Cassie St. Clair both tied the program record on floor as WMU hosted Kent State for Senior Day on Sunday at University Arena.
St. Clair and Murphy got back-to-back 9.975's, with each getting a 10.00 and a 9.950 from the two judges to share the event title. St. Clair also tied with
Halle Faulkner for the title on vault, each with a 9.900. Murphy went on to win the all-around with a 39.450 in her final performance at University Arena.
Freshman
Makenna King won her first event title of her career after finishing with a career-high 9.900. Senior
Sarah Moravansky, who will be returning for a fifth year, tied for second with a 9.875 and Murphy had a 9.850.
The Broncos turned in strong scores on vault (49.175), bars (49.175) and floor (49.500), but stumbled on bars. In the end, the Golden Flashes won the meet 196.950-195.650.
Western Michigan wraps up the regular season next Friday at Central Michigan. If the Broncos win they will clinch a share of the MAC Regular Season Championship. The meet can be watched live on ESPN+ beginning at 6 p.m.
