DEKALB, Ill. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team remained undefeated in Mid-American Conference competition after defeating Northern Illinois at NIU's Quad Meet on Friday night.
The Broncos bested the Huskies 195.350-194.675. WMU also picked up wins over UW-La Crosse (193.125) and UW-Whitewater (190.900).
Individually,
Cassie St. Clair and
Halle Faulkner tied for first place on vault with scores of 9.875.
Abby Singh tied for third place with a 9.850. Singh was also WMU's top performer on bars, taking second place with 9.825.
Payton Murphy and
Breckin Quoss were in a three-way tie for third place with NIU's Natalie Kraus after posting 9.775's.
Amanda Gruber finished in a three-way tie for first place on beam with a 9.900, while Murphy finished fourth with a 9.725.
Murphy picked up her win with a 9.950 on floor. Broncos populated the top four spots, with St. Clair taking second place with a 9.900 and Gruber and
Dani Petrousek tied for third with 9.875's. The team posted a season-high score of 49.425 on the event.
Murphy went on to claim the all-around with a score of 39.250.
Western Michigan returns home to host Ball State on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Broncos will be celebrating 50 years of WMU Gymnastics as well as recognizing alums in attendance. Tickets are available at
