Women’s Hoops Concludes Calendar Year at Purdue Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team will clash with Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, December 21. Tip-off is slated at 2:00 PM and the game will be on ESPN+. 

Last Time Out

The Western Michigan University women's basketball team defeated Prairie View A&M University Tuesday 87-58. With the win, WMU women's basketball coach Shane Clipfell captured his 175th head coaching victory with the Brown and Gold. Clipfell is now within four victories of tying Fran Ebert (1967-82) for the program's all-time wins record.

On Tuesday, four Broncos scored in double figures including graduate student Hannah Spitzley and junior Marina Asensio, who combined for 28 points. In the win, Asensio tied a career-high four three-pointers made and grabbed a career-best seven rebounds, while Sptizley improved her career three-point total to 92 treys and counting. The graduate student enters Saturday's contest in a tie with Leighah-Amori Wool (2017-2020) for the 18th most threes made in program history. WMU's second graduate student Megan Wagner dished out four assists and improved her career total to 235 -- the 16th most assists recorded all-time in program history. 

Scouting Purdue Fort Wayne 

The Mastodons enter the matchup with a record of 7-5.  Former Bronco Lauren Ross paces the Mastodons with 18.5 points per game while shooting 49.3% from the field, 51.2% from three, and 91.8% from the free throw line. Ross and the Mastodons are one of two 3-0 teams in the Horizon League, after capturing wins over Robert Morris, Green Bay, and IU Indianapolis.
