KALAMAZOO, Mich.– The Western Michigan women's basketball team begins its short two game homestand against Miami (Ohio) Saturday, January 13, at 3:00 PM at University Arena. The Broncos enter the matchup with an overall record of 5-8 and a MAC (Mid-American Conference) record of 0-3. 

Last time out, the Brown and Gold lost to the Toledo Rockets on the road 82-55. Bronco guard Kaitlyn Zarycki led all scorers with 23 points and added six rebounds, four steals, and two assists in 34 minutes. In the loss Zarycki improved her streak of scoring at least 23 points for a third consecutive game. Over her last eight contests, the guard from Niles, Michigan has averaged 21.4 points per game while shooting an impressive 52.7% from the field. Entering tomorrow's matchup, Zarycki ranks 53rd in the nation in scoring average with 18.3 points per game. On the opposite end of the court, senior guard Gabi Saxman (Schoolcraft, Michigan) continued her defensive dominance by picking up her 95th career steal.

As for the Redhawks, senior forward Jadyn Scott led the way with 10 points in a 69-38 loss on Wednesday night to Kent State. Miami was out-rebounded 50-36 and KSU made 17 free throws compared to Miami's six. Scott leads the Redhawks this season in the scoring department with 12.1 ppg while shooting an efficient 53.4% from the field. 
 
In the all-time series, Miami holds a slight edge with a 38-34 record over the Brown and Gold. The Broncos are looking for their first win over the Redhawks since January 22, 2022, where they defeated Miami 63-54 on the road.
