The Western Michigan men's soccer team (5-1-1) travels to Pennsylvania to take on the Villanova Wildcats (0-3-2) Tuesday at 4:00 PM. The game will mark the first of four road contests for the Brown and Gold, as they begin their longest road stretch of the season.
The Broncos, who recently ranked 28th in the latest College Soccer News Poll are in search of extending their unbeaten streak to seven games tomorrow afternoon. Western Michigan is following up on an undefeated homestand where they tied Butler 0-0 and defeated Dayton, Detroit Mercy, and Bowling Green by an average of 2.33 goals per game.
After scoring five times last week, Charlie Sharp trails Dan Edwards (1991-94) by five goals for the title of as the all-time leading scorer for the men's soccer team. Sharp, in the midst of a career season, is on pace to surpass his previous season high 11 goals, which he set last year through 21 games. After the team's first seven matches this season, Sharp has accumulated seven goals and has added an assist.
Looking more into the goal department, Sharp's teammate Dylan Sing is on pace to enter the higher echelons of the all-time program scoring list too. As of late, Sing has been on a tear, scoring three goals and adding two assists over his last three matches. With his next goal, Sing will tie assistant coach Shane Lyons for seventh on WMU's all-time scoring list with 21 career goals and counting.
The Broncos and Wildcats will square off for the first time Tuesday. Villanova is led by Balthi Saunders, Jorge Garicia, and Vincent Petrera. The trio has combined for three goals and an assist during the Wildcats first five games of the season.
