ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Following its home sweep of Bowling Green last weekend, Western Michigan hits the road for its next two conference series, beginning this weekend at Toledo.

WMU VS UT
The Broncos own a 107-67 lead in the all-time series against Toledo. Last season, the two teams split a four-game series in Kalamazoo. WMU and UT also split a four-game set the last time they met in Toledo back in 2021.

SCOUTING THE ROCKETS
Toledo enters the series having won five of its last six, including midweek victories at Dayton and against I-75 rival Bowling Green. The Rockets boast a powerful offense, as they lead the MAC and rank 25th nationally with 69 home runs. UT's Jeron Williams enters the weekend as the national leader with 37 stolen bases.

LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan is coming off of a three-game sweep at home against Bowling Green last weekend. In Friday's series opener, Gavin Doyle hit a grand slam as part of a five-run third to lead WMU to a 6-4 win. The Broncos then tallied double-digit runs over each of the next two games, winning 10-6 and 11-3 to complete the sweep.

HOW SWEEP IT IS
WMU's sweep of Bowling Green last weekend was its first MAC sweep since brooming a four-game series against Akron back in April of 2021. It was the first time the Broncos had swept Bowling Green since 2013.

SLAMMIN' SULLY
Cade Sullivan hit his team-leading 10th and 11th home runs of the season last weekend against Bowling Green to become the first player in Western Michigan history to bash double-digit home runs in back-to-back seasons. The junior leads the Bronco offense in homers (11), RBIs (37), runs scored (35) and slugging percentage (.577).

DEALIN' DANE
Dane Armbrustmacher continued his strong run of starts lately on Saturday, as he yielded three runs on just four hits over six innings to pick up his team-leading fifth win of the season. The senior racked up nine strikeouts, his fourth straight start with at least eight, and enters the weekend fourth in the MAC and 51st nationally with 68 strikeouts.

MILLER MOWS 'EM DOWN
Brady Miller turned in another solid outing for the Broncos last weekend as well, as he earned the win for his six-inning outing in last Friday's series opener. The righty has gone six innings or more in four straight starts and in five of his six league outings.

GRAND GAVIN
Gavin Doyle had a big weekend at the plate for Western Michigan, going 4-for-10 against BGSU with three extra-base hits, five RBIs and a .571 on-base percentage. Doyle's grand slam helped the Broncos to a five-run third inning in Friday's series-opening win over the Falcons. The senior proceeded to reach base three times in each of the last two games of the series, with a double and two walks in both contests.

JACKSON IS COOKING
Jackson Kitchen has been hot lately as well, boasting a .378 average and getting on base at a .451 clip over WMU's last 10 games. The junior is currently on a 33-game on-base streak, the longest by a Bronco in 2023.

GETTING DEFENSIVE
WMU has turned 34 double plays, the most in the league and 32nd-most in the country. The Broncos rank third in the MAC and 50th nationally with a .977 fielding percentage.

WESTERN WORKHORSES
Dane Armbrustmacher and Brady Miller have combined to make 19 starts for the Broncos so far this season. Armbrustmacher has logged 56.2 innings, fourth-most in the MAC, while Miller's 55.1 innings are eighth-most. The duo are both among the conference's strikeout leaders as well, with Armbrustmacher having racked up 68 (4th in the MAC, 51st nationally) and Miller having totaled 56 (T-9th). Both hurlers have won four of their six starts in MAC play. Armbrustmacher leads WMU with five total wins, one shy of the conference lead.
