Grady Mee Earns MAC and National Player of the Week Honors

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – For the second straight week, a Western Michigan player has been named MAC Baseball Co-Player of the Week, as freshman infielder Grady Mee took home the honor, it was announced on Monday afternoon. Mee was also named one of Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week, Powered by Diamond.

Mee had a red-hot week at the plate for the Broncos, going seven-for-15 (.467), reaching base at a .556 clip and slugging 1.133 for the week. He totaled eight runs, seven RBIs, three home runs, a double and a stolen base.

The freshman did the majority of his damage in WMU's weekend series against Akron. Mee hit an even .500 (six-for-12) in the series, homered in all three games, the first three round-trippers of his collegiate career, scored eight times and drove in seven to help the Broncos win their second consecutive MAC series.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Mee is the second Bronco to earn a MAC Player of the Week honor in 2023, joining Cade Sullivan, who has a pair of Player of the Week awards this season.

Mee is the first Bronco to be named a National Player of the Week this season, and first WMU honoree since Sullivan earned a National Player of the Week award in April of 2022.

Western Michigan continues its homestand on Tuesday afternoon as it welcomes Eastern Michigan to Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field for a non-conference matchup. First pitch between the Broncos and Eagles is slated for 3 pm.
