Volleyball, Men's Basketball Selected to Helper Helper Team Challenge

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan volleyball and men's basketball teams have both been selected to the 2023 NCAA Helper Helper Team Challenge.

In an effort to bring service into the annual spring hoops hysteria, Helper Helper has created a 64-team community service bracket. The top student-athletes in the country will go head-to-head in the name of community service. Helper Helper is a resource for organizations to help keep track and organize community service hours and efforts.

"Community service is a very important part of what we do within Broncos Empowered," Senior Associate AD for Broncos Empowered and Championship Culture Julian Jones said. "Helping our student-athletes understand the importance of servant leadership is a key part of their holistic development. Not only does it help our student-athletes, coaches and staff become more engaged within the community, it helps our community be more engaged with WMU Athletics."

The top-64 teams have been selected, with 46 athletic departments and 23 conferences represented. Teams which have been selected are encouraged to stay on top of tracking their community service hours over the next few weeks. Bracket updates are to be announced each Monday using the following schedule:

Top 32 - March 13
Sweet 16 - March 20
Elite 8 - March 27
Final 4 - April 3
Challenge Winner - April 10
