KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball program had three student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team, it was announced on Tuesday. Redshirt junior
Max Burton earned the honor for the third consecutive year, while senior
Jayden Brewer and redshirt junior
Trey Lewis were first-time selections.
Burton owns a 3.80 GPA as a Sales & Business Marketing major. The Williamston, Mich., native started 30 games for the Broncos this year, averaging 5.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest. He finished second on WMU in rebounding and was also second on the team with 16 blocked shots.
Brewer started 28 of 31 games for Western Michigan, averaging 13.3 points and a team-leading 7.0 rebounds per game on the way to a team-high eight double-doubles. A University Studies major with a 3.75 GPA, he finished 20th in the MAC in scoring, ninth in rebounding and eighth in blocked shots at 1.0 per contest.
A University Studies major with a 3.67 GPA, Lewis appeared in all 31 games and made 11 starts in his first season at WMU. The Ferndale, Mich., native averaged 7.7 points for the Brown and Gold and was one of the team's top three-point shooters, connecting on team-high 52 triples. He shot 38.5 percent from long distance for the season and 39.0 percent from downtown in conference play, both of which were inside of the league's top-20.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the court and in the classroom. The CSC All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
