Broncos Head to Ypsilanti on Tuesday to Face EMU

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball team hits the road for Ypsilanti on Tuesday night as it looks to complete a season sweep of Eastern Michigan.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Western Michigan hits the road for its final two road games of the regular season this week, starting on Tuesday night in Ypsilanti against Eastern Michigan. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Broncos snapped a nine-game slide on Saturday with a 78-68 win over Ball State at University Arena. WMU had four players in double-figures, led by 22 from Tray Maddox Jr., which tied the senior's season high. Lamar Norman Jr. added 20, Owen Lobsinger had a career-high 15, and Markeese Hastings tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season.

BALANCED BRONCOS
WMU had four players score in double-figures on Saturday, as Tray Maddox Jr. led the way with 22, Lamar Norman Jr. tallied 20, Owen Lobsinger netted 15, and Markeese Hastings chipped in 10 points. Saturday marked the ninth time this season four or more Broncos have scored double-digits in a single game, and the fourth time Western Michigan has had a pair of players score 20 or more points in the same game. 

LOBSINGER LIGHTS IT UP
With Western Michigan facing some foul trouble on Saturday afternoon, sophomore forward Owen Lobsinger played a career-high 24 minutes. The Flint, Mich., native took advantage of his extended playing time, as he hit 7-of-9 from the floor on the way to a career-high 15 points. Lobsinger also grabbed a career-high seven rebounds and equaled his career best with three steals. 

WMU VS EMU
Western Michigan comes into Tuesday's game leading the all-time series against Eastern Michigan, 64-58. The Broncos have won the last two meetings against EMU, including an 85-79 victory back on Jan. 10 at University Arena. In last year's win Bronco win in Ypsilanti, Lamar Norman Jr. buried eight three-pointers, one shy of the single-game program record, on his way to a then career-high 35 points. Western Michigan is in search of its first season sweep of the Eagles since the 2010-11 season. 

WHEN LAST WE MET
Back on Jan. 10, Western Michigan notched its first MAC win under first-year head coach Dwayne Stephens as it topped EMU, 85-79. Four Broncos scored in double-figures, led by Lamar Norman Jr.'s 25 points. Markeese Hastings notched a double-double, with 14 points and 14 rebounds. The WMU defense forced a season-high 17 turnovers and grabbed a season-high 12 steals in the win. 

CLEANING THE GLASS
After ranking near the bottom of the MAC in rebounding a season ago, Western Michigan has turned things around to lead the league in rebounding margin (+4.5) and offensive rebounding (12.2), as well as rank third in the MAC in overall rebounding (37.1). Nationally, the Broncos are 34th in offensive rebounding and 43rd in rebounding margin.

MAKING HIS MARK
Markeese Hastings notched 10 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday to pick up his seventh double-double of the season, which is fourth-most in the conference. The redshirt junior has 15 double-digit rebounding performances this season, second-most in the league. Hastings ranks second in the MAC in total rebounds (258, 23rd nationally), rebounds per game (9.6, 21st) and defensive rebounds per game (6.7, 22nd). 

SCORIN' NORMAN
Lamar Norman Jr. tallied 20 points on Saturday, making it 52 double-digit scoring efforts in his 56 career games as a Bronco. Norman has led the team in scoring 39 times during his two seasons in the Brown & Gold, and on Feb. 7 at Miami, he became the 45th player to score 1,000 career points at WMU. 

THE WRIGHT STUFF
Junior center Titus Wright has elevated his game in conference play this season, upping his season averages to 9.9 points and 5.2 rebounds in league play. For the season, Wright is shooting 61.2 percent from the floor, the second-highest mark in the MAC.

386 AND COUNTING
WMU has made at least one three-pointer in 386 straight games dating back to 2011. 

HALFTIME LEADS TURN INTO W'S
The Broncos own a 55-21 record over the last five seasons when leading at halftime, including a 6-1 mark this season.

ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan closes out its regular season road schedule on Saturday night as it travels to Akron to take on the Zips at 7 pm.
