KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan women's soccer and head coach
Sammy Boateng have announced the schedule for the upcoming 2022 fall season, which includes eight home contests at the WMU Soccer Complex.
The Broncos open up the regular season with a non-conference matchup against Valparaiso on Saturday, August 6 at 12 p.m. before venturing out for five more consecutive non-conference road games. WMU wraps up the no-conference home schedule shortly thereafter, hosting Cincinnati on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. before taking on Oakland the following Sunday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. as well. Both games hold significance, as the contest against Cincinnati will be Pride Day at the WMU Soccer Complex, while Sunday's bout against Oakland is Senior Day.
Coach Boateng and the Broncos are very much looking forward to the upcoming slate: "We are extremely excited about the upcoming season. We have a very challenging non-conference schedule this fall. MAC play will also be difficult as always but we are looking forward to competing for championships. We had a lot of growth during the spring season. Our group is young but ambitious and ready to fight for Western."
MAC play in the Western Michigan 2022 season begins on the road against the Northern Illinois Huskies, who host WMU on Thursday, Sept. 22 with a kick-off time still to be determined. The Broncos also play host to Bowling Green during Alumni Weekend (Sunday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m.) and Kent State for Mental Health Awareness Day (Thursday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m.), as well as Central Michigan (Thursday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.), Eastern Michigan for this year's Pink Game (Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.), and Akron (Thursday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m.).
The season wraps up with the Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship, beginning with quarterfinals on Sunday, Oct. 30 at campus sites and continuing with semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 3 and finals on Sunday, Nov. 6. The semifinals and finals will be held by the highest seed coming out of campus site games.
