KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team tied the program record team score of 196.725 on Sunday, but fell to visiting Kent State, who scored a 196.850. Following the meet, the Broncos honored seniors
Tess Abbott and
Carissa Ludwig.
The Broncos scored a 49.000 or more on vault, balance beam, bars and floor exercise for the first time in program history. They furthermore scored a program-record 49.475 on floor, led by Ludwig and freshman
Cassie St. Clair's 9.925. Freshman
DonnaKathryn Roy's floor performance earned her a 9.900.
St. Claire and junior
Payton Murphy tied for the win on vault with a score of 9.875. Sophomore
Sarah Moravansky tied for the best all-around score with a 39.300. She scored a 9.825 on vault, 9.800 on bars, 9.825 on beam, and a 9.850 on floor.
Freshman
Rylee Gallmeyer had a 9.900 on beam, while fellow freshman
Molly Freeman scored a 9.850 on bars.
Up next, the Broncos are headed to the MAC Championship Meet on Saturday, March 19 at Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti.
