RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Western Michigan golf team wrapped up the second round of the Rio Verde Invitational on Saturday at the Rio Verde Country Club's White Wing Golf Course.
The Broncos took 11 strokes off of their team total from Friday's round, combining to shoot a 311 for a 36-hole total of 633 (+57). WMU currently sits in 16th place. Kennessaw State leads the tournament with a 582 (+6), with Xavier nipping at its heels at 585 (+9).
Four of WMU's five competitors improved their scores from Friday. Freshman Ally Barth shot a 77 for a two-day total of 155 and is currently tied for 40th. Senior Brooke Gibbons sits three shots behind her, followed by Alissa Fish at 159. Imogen Courtney shot a 78 and sits with a 161 heading into the final round, while Fiona Khaing has a 171 after an 86. Senior Cameryn Lucia, competing as an individual, shot a 77 and has a 36-hole total of 158.
KSU's Caitlyn Campbell maintains her lead on the field after shooting a 72 for a two-round total of 139 (-5). XU's Kara Carter sits in second place, two strokes back.
The final round begins on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. ET.
