WMU's Ross Named MAC Player of the Week

CLEVELAND – Western Michigan redshirt sophomore guard Lauren Ross has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. It is the first Player of the Week award for Ross this season and third of her WMU career.

Ross poured in a season-high 27 points, and added three rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals, in Western Michigan's game at #23 Michigan last week. The Muskegon, Mich., native had a hot shooting night for WMU, as she connected on 9-of-14 from the floor, made all five of her three-point attempts and was 4-for-4 at the foul line.

WMU's second game of the week, which was set for last Saturday against Detroit Mercy, was canceled due to travel issues caused by inclement weather.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Ross ranks second in the MAC and inside the top-50 nationally in scoring at 20.0 points per game. The redshirt sophomore has hit an even 50.0 percent (8-of-16) from three-point range which leads the conference.

The Broncos return to action on Tuesday night as they welcome Youngstown State to University Arena. The contest is slated for 7 pm. Tickets to any WMU women's basketball home game this season can be purchased here
