Women's Basketball Hosts YSU on Tuesday Night

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team is back at University Arena on Tuesday night as it faces Youngstown State. Tip off is set for 7 pm, and tickets can be purchased here. Fans can also take advantage of the Bronco Athletics Thanksgiving special, with a ticket, a hot dog and a drink all for just $8. 
 
WHERE TO WATCH / LISTEN
Tuesday's contest between the Broncos and Penguins will be streamed on ESPN+. The game will also be broadcast on 95.5 FM The Touch, the radio home of WMU women's basketball all season long. 

SERIES 
Western Michigan heads into the ninth all-time meeting against Youngstown State with a 5-3 advantage in the series. The most recent matchup came during the 2011-12 campaign, with the Penguins prevailing on their home floor. The Broncos are 4-0 at home in the series, including an overtime victory in YSU's last trip to Kalamazoo on Dec. 12, 2010.
 
LAST TIME OUT: WMU DROPS CONTEST TO #23 MICHIGAN
WMU fell to No. 23 Michigan last Wednesday in Ann Arbor by a final score of 99-67. Redshirt sophomore Lauren Ross led the Broncos with 27 points, including 5-of-5 from three-point range. Redshirt freshman Maggie Stutelberg netted a career-high 20 points on 7-of-14 from the field and 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. 
 
As a team, Western Michigan buried a season-high 13 three-pointers and made all eight of its free throw attempts. 

The Broncos were scheduled to play Detroit Mercy this past Saturday, but the contest was canceled due to travel issues caused by inclement weather. 
 
WESTERN MICHIGAN (0-3 Overall)
Western Michigan comes into Tuesday's contest looking for its first win of the 2022-23 campaign. Ross is leading the Broncos and ranks second in the MAC at 20.0 points per game so far this season. The redshirt sophomore's scoring average also ranks inside of the top-50 nationally. Ross is atop the conference in three-point percentage, as she's knocked down an even 50.0 percent (8-of-16) in WMU's first three games. On Monday, Ross was named the MAC Player of the week for her performance at #23 Michigan. 

Taylor Williams is also averaging double-digits for WMU, as the redshirt junior is averaging 12.0 points per contest. She also leads the Broncos in rebounding at 6.5 per contest. 
 
SCOUTING THE PENGUINS (1-2 Overall)
After winning its season opener against Wofford, Youngstown State has lost back-to-back road games at Penn State and Akron. In the setback against the Zips, Lilly Ritz had 23 points and nine rebounds for YSU.  
 
Ritz is averaging a double-double so far this season for the Penguins, as the fifth-year has posted 20.7 points and 11.7 rebounds thus far in 2022-23. Ritz ranks second in the Horizon League in both categories.
