CLEVELAND – After claiming the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week for the third time in the last four weeks on Monday, Western Michigan outside hitter
Maggie King has been named the MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week.
King tallied 41 kills (5.13/set) on a .304 hitting percentage and added 33 digs for an average of 4.13 per set in Western Michigan's two matches last week.
In a straight-set win over Miami on Friday night, King paced the Broncos with 19 kills on a .438 hitting percentage, served up a pair of aces and came one dig shy of a double-double. The following day against Bowling Green, she once again led WMU with 22 kills, and also registered a career-high 24 digs to notch her sixth double-double of the season. King also became the first player to record 20 or more kills and 20 or more digs in the same match for Western Michigan since Rachel Bontrager posted 22 kills and 26 digs in the semifinal victory over Ohio in the Spring 2021 MAC Tournament.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, King boasts a 3.97 GPA as a Child & Family Development major.
The Broncos continue a four-match homestand this weekend as they welcome Toledo to town. First serve for Friday's series opener against the Rockets is set for 3:30 pm. Tickets for all WMU home volleyball matches can be purchased at
