KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team and head coach
Sammy Boateng have announced the upcoming 2021 schedule, featuring nine home games at the WMU Soccer Complex.

The Broncos are set to host Detroit Mercy on Sunday. Aug. 22 at 2 p.m., IUPUI on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m., and the University of Southern California on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. to highlight the non-conference home schedule. WMU also makes trips to Louisville, Michigan, Indiana and Butler. The game between WMU and USC will be the first meeting between the two schools in program history. "We are really excited about returning to normalcy with a very challenging schedule this fall," said Boateng. "We are playing national powerhouses in Louisville, Michigan, Indiana and University of Southern California. These Power 5 teams will get us ready to compete for a MAC championship. We saw how close results and seeding was this spring and we learned a lot as a program. We are looking forward to competing for multiple MAC championships and improving as a program."

After the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season resulted in WMU just playing Mid-American Conference West Division opponents, the Broncos return to a full conference slate for 2021. Western Michigan opens MAC play hosting Bowling Green on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. The Broncos also welcome Central Michigan (Sunday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.), Kent State (Sunday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m.), Akron (Sunday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m.), Ball State (Thursday, Oct. 21 at 4 p.m.) and Northern Illinois (Thursday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.).

The MAC Tournament also returns to normal, beginning with the quarterfinals on Sunday, Oct. 31 at campus sites. The semifinals and finals will be hosted by the top remaining seed on Nov. 4 and 7.
